Artist description Kevin Charles is a performance poet. Work so far is usually dark humor, prosaic and quietly intense. Claim to fame is performance in the 1999 National Poetry Slam on Team Kalamazoo, which took 17th place in the competition. Charles performs features across the United States and has performed in places as far flung as Fargo, North Dekota to more local venues like the famous Heidelberg Restaurant in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Artist History Charles founded an open mic at Dirty's Outhouse Poet's Cafe' in Kalamazoo in 1996. Published a performance art magazine called "Dirty Word" for two years. Co-founder of the Kalamazoo Poetry Slam. Currently SlamMaster of the Grand Rapids Poetry Slam.
