Artist History
East Midlands-based acoustic combo Fieldwork developed a sound that spanned different cultures and backgroundsbefore the world/roots tag became fashionable, and since 1984 they have performed extensively throughout the U.K.Whilst some of their material is self-penned, a good deal is drawn from traditional sources, notably of the Chartist, political folk strand, and adapted to suit Fieldwork's contemporary sound and approach. Using guitars, cittern, fiddle, harmonium, tongue-drum, mbira and a host of hand percussion, they are not infrequentlyattracted to unusual time signatures and have been known to employ monstrously-subjacent tunings. A C.D. entitled 'From Humdrum to Tongue Drum (A Young Person's Guide to Fieldwork)' features fourteen tracks, iscurrently available, and is due for review in the July issue of MOJO magazine. Also almost ready for release is the latest album,a new studio album. |
