Press Reviews
Saskatoon's rock and roll clowns, known for the effort in looking as
naked on stage as possible, are back with a new album. In their second
release since the "First Gay Album", Voyd have refurbished their grunge
sound, adding more elements of Californian 'punk', as well as some
pre-suicide Nirvana and occasionally something familiar to the heavy
rock as produced by The Smalls.
Voyd has matured in more ways than their sound on "It Doesn't Pay to be
Gay...Or Anything Else the Bewildred Herd Deems Devinat", and a band
that may have considered their social commentary more of a joke have now
begun to take a more satirical look on their homophobic-themed albums.
Beyond bringing to light the incredible popularity of alienating someone
based on sexual orientation , Voyd's lyrics have also moved away from
the Evan Hardy Gym to constructive thought and the free spirited nature
of individuals like Jack Kerouac.
Voyd has come into their own with this new release, and have begun to
use their power as rock musicians to express themselves in a town where
expression is best done with the thrust of a young wannabe's crotch or
the failed attempt at twirling a drum stick. Chris Lefebvre - Shea |
