Press Reviews
"Led by Bill Hector's where-do-they-come-from? guitar riffs, this is one of the best bands, signed or otherwise, on the East Coast-and with the exception of Stevie Ray Vaughn & Double Trouble, they are the best blues-based rock band I'veever seen...Hector plays with guts and displays some of the best guitar chops you'll see anywhere." (East Coast Rocker Magazine-Bob Makin). "Billy Hector and his band have all the necessary chops, especially in the guitar department, where Hector consistently contributes deft fills and dynamic solos." (The Star Ledger-Jay Lustig). "Hector is a great guitar player-a phenomenon that must be experienced live to be believed." (WNTI-FM JB)."I've received at least as much of an education in drumming from playing with Billy Hector as I have from any other experience. Billy's an amazing guitarist." (Modern Drummer Magazine-Sim Cain, drummer of the Rollins Band). "Billy Hector and band redefine the term rockin' blues band. The spirits of Roy Buchanan and Stevie Ray Vaughn are alive and well in Billy Hector." (WHTG-FM Ray Whittaker). "Billy Hector is the slick playing, machine gun fretmaster behind the band, and it's apparent that this gentleman has done his homework. Whether grinding out slow blues, ripping through a medium tempo chunker, or sizzling past a fiery guitar instrumental, Hector covers all bases flawlessly, with his own gut wrenching yet intelligent soloing."(Santa Cruz Times-Richie Begin). "At the front of this exploding blues mayhem is Billy Hector, whose fingers fly up and down his guitar with such authority that he should carry a badge. The slide work that Hector lays down is sneaky and deadly. It moves a song like great slidework should. I like this band a lot-they play the blues, they rock 'em out, and they don't sound like a beer commercial." (Buzz Magazine-Howe Glassaman)."Billy Hector and the band are just a cut above everyone else, they play on another level. They really have the 'magic'; once again, Billy and his band stole the show. From the first note to the last they were smokin'. Billy Hector is a state treasure." (Two River Times-Uncle Mike). "This current CD (Hard To Please) has a live feel to it and we are treated to a host of hooks and rhythms that define and shape the many appealing moods that are composed with expertise, much like a painter creates a landscape. His economic style is at times, lush with many colors...it is, in fact a unique voice...this music is truthful and faithful to the core. Billy Hector is pure. The real deal." (Tri-State Blues Magazine-Ira Bolterman)."The amazing thing about Billy Hector is that he could just play killer cover versions of blues and boogie, and you would go away thrilled with the passion and raw joy he brings to his playing. Listen to how his guitar rings at the start of his live version of "Stray Cat", a cool Stones song. But at the end of the night you realize that most of the stunning songs you've heard were originals, and you come away with a real appreciation of his craft. Catch him while you can, his talent is incandescent." (MusicHead-Pat Fallon). "The truest picture of rock-and-roll in New Jersey is not Bruce Springsteen playing to 20,000 in the Meadowlands, but Billy Hector playing to 150 at Jason's..." (The Asbury Park Press-Kevin Coyne). |
