    Artist History
In the spring of 1996, forces of suburban Ottawa, Canada brought 2 guitarists together who would eventually fuel each others’ talents in powerful rocking form. The band IGNITION was born and exploded into the tight chemistry that only close friends can create. The new album, called Timeline, features songs that represent different thoughts that are experienced through time. The writing for the album has taken place over a period of two years, through which the band members have experienced an array of feelings and incidents. These events have inspired the band to come up with songs that go from more sullen tunes about the passage of time and the departure of loved ones to gripping rock tunes about being apathetic to the world and giving up hope, to happier melodies of striving through tough situations and keeping it going, the album will showcase the many writing talents of the band. Front man Eric St-Cyr says, "These past two years have been pretty rough for us, in our personal lives. You can hear that in our music and lyrics, but generally we’re strong individuals who can realize that you must strive on no matter what."The band has shared stages with many bands, including high profile Canadian acts such as J. Englishman and Arlibido. With every live show that passes, St-Cyr, Zarboni and Taylor get more and more excited for what can only become a dream come true. When asked about what makes Ignition something distinctive from other bands, St-Cyr adds, "It’s really hard to answer that with words, it’s something that can be heard on our albums and experienced live. We don’t limit ourselves to one style of rock, and that gives us a competitive advantage."

And finally the band that has slid into Spinal Tap syndrome (according to Chart Attack: http://www.chartattack.com/DAMN/2001/12/0704.cfm ) started up. This was to be Ignition drummer Nick Maheux's last kick at the can with this band. And the NewRO was there to document the whole event. Ignition was slightly heavier than the rest of the bands that night and they had a fun energy and seemed to enjoy playing to the crowd. They encouraged audience participation by pretty much ordering people, by name, out on the floor and it worked, people actually stuck around for a song or two before the alcohol finally wore off and they wandered back to their seats. Ignition did seem to have a problem of overusing some pedals, especially the flanger, which I felt didn't add very much to the songs. They played a slow song called Time that I really liked. But they didn't just stick to one style, they tried heavier stuff, slower stuff, even heading into rap territory. They played a brand new song called Until The End which will be available on their new CD which is expected to be released in spring 2002. Later into their set they covered Incubus' Wish You Were Here and treble charger's Brand New Low and finally ended with their song Try. While they have no particular style, they're still a good band to check out if you get the chance.
