Artist description
Lifelong friends Mike Southworth and Craig Newnes created Melophobia in 1998 as a career-oriented recording project and live band. Experienced songwriters adept at numerous instruments, Mike and Craig, each just 20 years old, are the band’s sole writers and studio performers. The band released it’s 15 song, self-produced debut album, “Strategic Marketing” in 1999. Recorded in the band’s own Isis Studios, but mixed and mastered professionally and printed with a 12 page, full-colour booklet, the album has a professional sound and look. Mike was the 1999 recipient of the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (Junos) Award for his work on “Strategic Marketing”. With the addition of other musicians, Melophobia has adapted it’s sound to the stage and has recently been playing numerous full band and acoustic trio shows. The band is also currently recording demos for it’s second LP, which is scheduled for recording in the fall of 2000. |
