Artist History Po’azz Yo’azz has appeared in New York City at many venues including the Knitting factory, the Nuyorican Poets Cafe, Den of Theives, Panasonic Village Jazz Festival, Soho Arts Festival and at dance clubs including Jackie 60, the Tunnel and Robots. Overseas, they have made appearances at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and the Mojo Club in Hamburg. In cyberspace they have performed over ISDN lines via the Electronic Cafe between NYC and Copenhagen, and via the Poet’s Lounge between NYC and Hamburg. Taz Hamburg, July 1997 Am Mittwoch abend gab der Mojo Club zum wiederholten Mal den Ring fur den Wettstreit junger Poeten frei. Doch zum Streit kam es nieht wirklich, da die jungen Manner, die den Abend einleiteten, nicht ihre eigenen texte vortrugen, sondern die des vor zehn Jahren verstorbenen Jorg Fauser, dem ,,deutschen Bukowski”, wie er gerne gennant wird. Das eigentliche Kraftemessen bezog sich somit auf die Kunst des Vortragens, die hierzulande noch nicht so geubt zu sein scheint. So versuchten die Vortrasgenden, einem Schauspielgestus gerecht zu werden, der so verkrampft daherkam, dass man sich des Eindrucks nicht so geubt zu sein scheint. Soviel zum warm-up. Der eigentliche Anlass des Zusammentreffens war ja schliesslich der Aftritt der New Yorker Poetin Martha Cinader, die, begleitet von der Kontrabassistin Sabine Worthmann, dem Schlagzeuger Heinrich Koebberling und der DJane Marga Glanz den Liebhabern der ,,Spoken Words” einen genussvollen Abend lieferte. Aus der amerikanischen Performance-Tradition kommend, werden einzelne Worter wie Legobausteine aus dem Satz-zusammenhang gerissen, schleifenformiggeloopt und neu zusammengesetzt. Dabei spielten ihre Musikerfreunde heftig mit. Wahrend der Schlagzeuger den rhytmischen Klangteppich schaffte, schmiss Sabine Worthmann schrille Basse, kindliche Blockflotenklange und andere seltsame Tone in den Raum, die gesprochenen Worte von Martha Cinader wie zartes Glas durch die Luft hoben oder in tausend Scherben zerlegten.
