Artist description
I (Brett Trotter) have been playing the piano for about 12 or 13 years now, and I acquired a synth setup a couple years ago and put out a couple of songs with that, most of which are now offline as I have works that don't make cats screech down the street.
My piano music has been described by friends as "Documentary Music", I don't think that is necessarily a bad thing, it's just relaxing, thoughtful music. Very little of the piano music has been recorded yet, due to my lack of analog equipment.
My newer synth stuff is also very relaxed and textured for background listening. "Atlantis" was possibly going to be used by Evian in one of their commercials, but has so far gone unused (until the update below).
A review Atlantis by Melissa P of Listen.Com says: Appropriate background music to be heard softly over the speakers of a European health spa. Careful synth textures rise and fall like ocean currents in the eye of a hurricane.
I mainly hope to share some of my most creative moments with my listeners and hope that I impart some of that as well. One of my recent pieces, which has not been named yet, is a symphonic piece which I had a lot of fun with. I will be adding more movements as I complete them, but I was proud enough of what I have to try and share it with you early. Give them a listen, you just might like it.
Also, I'm always interested in hearing your feedback and seeing how many people are actually hearing my music and what they think. I might just put your ideas into the next song as well, name something you want to hear, maybe I can do it =) If you think of a name for the symphonic piece, email me, I'll give you credit =)
6/02/01, just added a piano piece.. its got some mistakes... it was technically just a practice session, but I like it.. and I felt i had to at least update my stuff...
1/10/02 well it's been quite a while, and tonight I will be uploading a brief theme idea i had for part two of the symphony (tacked on to the end of part one) as well as a rather poorly recorded but somewhat pleasing guitar song. The guitar song has been through many 'revisions' since then, it needs to be re-recorded and has since become a heck of a lot more up beat with a lot of chord changes.
Oh, big news, thanks to IUMA, my music has been selected to go on a CD by a Brazillian magazine company releasing it with their magazine called 'Qualidade de Vida' roughly translated 'Quality of Life', a magazine about relaxation and meditation. They will be putting Atlantis on and it will go out to 40,000 people! So I'm getting a slow start, but I owe it all to my fans! The same man who requested Atlantis also suggested 'The Journey Ahead' for the symphony, see if you think it fits and please write feedback!
I hope to record some more stuff this year, maybe get something a little more professional sounding and a little more final, but these rough drafts will have to do! Thanks for listening.
Enjoy (hopefully!) |

Artist History
Well, as I'm the only person in the "band", I make everything happen. Think, record, write, etc. Unfortunately I have to be "egotistical" and take all the credit... since there is no one else.. unless you'd like to join up with me =) I've been playing piano for 12 or 13 years. I played the trumpet for about 5 months many years ago, the Saxophone for about 4 years, and the Acoustic (upright) bass for about 2 years. Truthfully, I have next to no structured background, my piano and guitar is all self taught, from ear and from letting my emotions out on the piano/keyboard/strings. I am fortunate to have a good ear and strong feelings. I hope someday that my music will be heard by someone who will decide to show me the path to bigger and more organized things, help me multi-track and get into the real musical world. |
