Press Reviews
"City of Bastards certainly has the markings of its NZ predecessors, but more so it stands on its own as a disc that is both brutal and unsettlingly gentle."(Popwatch, Winter 1999) "I'm a big fan of dark, spacious rock and this Alpha Plan band fits rather coolly along such bands like Amp, Joy Division, and Crescent . . . Their sound is raw, most of the record sounds like a live performance. The whole album is pretty dark and the combination of words and music give off brilliant imagery."(Kickbright, November 1999) " . . . it's a rare review when I don't think I've done the album justice, and this is one of them. Whether you view it as nostalgia for a time lost or an album executed with regards to its content rather than its timeframe, City of Bastards is commanding listen after listen, and I find myself becoming more enraptured with the idea of the album with each listen."(Signal Drench, April 2000) |
