Artist description
---One Pedaled Bike is the next big thing, Intelligent Rock'n'Roll. Guitar driven rock filled with soul, thought and wisdom. OPB is a grass-roots organization consisting of four men who share equal responsibility and emotional input. They are not Pop, they are all front-men, they are not cool, they are all real, they are not ringers, they all write the music. OPB is your proverbial backseat theater, music that stays with you and remains true long after the last chord fades. One Pedaled Bike hopes to redefine rock music in the 21st century. Today a rock group is a band that has a pretty-boy front-man or one that has somebody write their music for them or even one that doesn't exist outside of a production studio. OPB is what modern rock is supposed to be, all faces, all composers and all music. If you're looking for the guy with the red hat twisted to the side, look elsewhere, if you want the guy that screams, look elsewhere, if you want the guys who don't sound good on stage, look elsewhere. If you want new music, lots of energy, and real talent, then look no further. |

Artist History
---In the beginning, there was Kris. He was young and naive, he liked video games and flannels. Like any good teenager, he spent time on the phone talking with friends. One such friend was Justin, he was a loose cannon, a kid that spent his grandfathers savings on a nice computer. On this machine, it would come to be that Justin used a program called Scream Tracker, which allowed him to write his own music, thereby turning him into a creative conduit. It is at this point during a phone conversation with Justin, that Kris is assaulted with a song written for a girl. Simply entitled 'Untitled', this song revolutionized Kris forever, turning him from innocent button pressing child, into raging uncontrollable musical outlet. He had to have this 'Scream Tracker'. Justin would change the course of history forever by obliging Kris. With this newly found expressive outlet, Kris wrote many a song of his own, he was reminiscent of a smiley face. He was interested in the scene that Justin had hooked him into, he needed an identity in this scene, an identity that so many others had. What would it be? He didn't know either, he did know that he needed a drink. Thus, to Wawa he would ride his bike, and boy did he ride. He rode with such intent that he broke his left pedal off. This very thought slithered through his mind: "What good is a One Pedaled Bike?" Oh... now that's catchy! Kris decided that 'One Pedaled Bike' would be his identity in the online scene. Yes, he would release his songs under that assumed name. Kris would leave his mark as One Pedaled Bike, he would express his heart to others through his music, he would-on second thought-just use his own name. It was a good name, it's what everyone called him. And so, with that, OPB was wiped from existance. Sad but true, Kris would go on to write some songs that he was rather fond of, such as ALRIGHT.S3M, ASPARAGS.S3M and POLYGAMY.S3M (the latter two of these being completely false and utterly bogus). Let us not forget that he was also an actor in his day, so he also spent his time... acting, like he did in 'The House of Blue Leaves'. During this production at The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey (which is now known simply as Stockton College, since big wooden letters are so expensive) Kris came to meet a young boy from the Pop group Hanson. Well, it turns out he wasn't a member of Hanson after all, he just looked like it at the time, he was called Zach (with an 'h'). Zach was a good friend to Kris, and Kris was a good friend to Zach. Kris and Zach were also good friends to Gina, who was good friends with Jeanette. And, so the world turns, Kris and Zach also happened to be good friends with Jeanette (moreso than with Gina since she haid a carrot nose). And thus, through the transitive property, all involved were good friends with one another. They often found themselves in a vehicle driven by Jeanette, accompanied by-of course-Gina. Kris and Zach were made to sit in the back seat, so happy were they by this turn of fate that they amused Gina and Jeanette endlessly. They had become a backseat theater-or just silly, depending upon who you ask-but this doesn't come into play until later. At the same time that all this was happening, Kris acquired a drumset. And dig this, it comes to light that Zach had a guitar. These words were rumoured to come from Kris' mouth, "Dude, you wanna come over and jam?" Following a harrowed silence, Zach was rumoured to utter, "Uhhh... sure..." Late one night in the silence of darkness, sound was issued forth from a bedroom occupied by Kris and Zach. Cats knocked over trash cans and Kris' Mom rubbed her temples, but she kept smiling because she knew something that no one else did, and no, I don't know what that was. Yes, the sound was pretty bad. Neither Kris nor Zach knew how to play, but they played anyway, bless their hearts. They got better of course, but they were nothing without a name for their two-man band. They tossed some ideas into the air, like Limp Bizkit, Rascal Flats and Ricky Martin, but decided that they would all be taken by other bands in the next year or so. Taxing his brain, Kris thought back to his past, back in the deep dark recesses of his memory. Recesses where he played dodgeball, recesses where he was made fun of by other kids, recesses where he ate worms. Then it hit him like a pimp, "One Pedaled Bike"! And as Zach was prone to do at the time, he paused. Eventually he said, "That sounds cool." and OPB came back to life. And so history continued to progress and Kris and Zach continued to get better. They decided that their first album would be called 'Back Seat Theater' because of the implied anal reference. Neither of them liked the idea very much, they just thought it was funny. So they trashed that and came up with 'Back Seat Theater' which was a throw-back to their days in the back seat of Jeanette's car. They even came up with a list of songs to put on the album. Here it is in riddle form: BST-MO, JS, SS, RM, AA, DYSM, UA, R, FA, C, MO. You may like to know that the first song Kris and Zach wrote together was 'Movin' On', just a little hint. It might also be noted by good historians and anyone who likes a good love story that Kris and Jeanette fell in love at some point in this gray area and that they now share a bed and say things like, "You're so cute!", and "I love you!", and "I'm leaving you for someone better!", which is always followed by a kiss and several exclamations of disgust (depending upon company). One day whilst our unlikely duo played their songs in Kris' small hot bedroom a left-handed jew with a blonde streak showed up. He had a guitar with him, he stated "Hi, I'm John, J-O-H-N, John..." John became part of the band immediately because of his mysterious appeal, or maybe it was his talent... naw... had to be the appeal. Now One Pedaled Bike was a three piece band boasting a much more filled out sound and much deeper lyrics. Lines like, "I want your polygamatic asparagus root in my smacky dart..." were dropped for less debased lyrics such as, "Yeah..." Yes, OPB was getting serious and it turns out John was a demon on guitar, go figure. OPB's first venue was at their alma mater, Absegami High School's Cabaret Night. They played classic hits like Universal Acceleration (We love you Mrs. Van Nest!) and well, nothing else was really finished at the time. It was quite successful nontheless. Their second venture was not very successful, hence, we're leaving it out. It did however manage to strengthen their resolve and led to Kris saying, "Let's practice." Zach paused, then said, "Okay." John said, "Poopy!", they all knew he meant yes. This leads to the golden age of OPB, or the Jeanette and Dr. Pete years, where the boys get some much needed support from two of their biggest fans. The lovely and managment-minded Jeanette and the magical and special Dr. Pete. It was the drive and vison of OPB and these two people (and let's not forget Hanna) that made OPB into a force to be reckoned with. OPB discovered that they had a serious lack of organizational skills and that Jeanette had an overabundance of these skills, she was used, so very used, OPB thinks she liked it. OPB also had an overabundance of 'no bassist', and when it came to being useless and without skill, Dr. Pete lagged greatly behind humanity. He was golden. Aside from his obvious use as a bassist Dr. Pete tunred out to be a wealth of information and technical know-how. In an odd turn of events, he also turned out to be Zach's Dad. The world works in funny ways folks. The day had come, OPB headed into the studio in hopes of making their very first album. Their hopes were crushed and their dreams were dashed out like a ship too close to shore, so instead they made a demo CD called '923'. The result was amazing, their fame spread and they made many fans. The first batch of CD's were burned and distributed and everyone was happy. Except for the United States, because they voted for Al Gore and George Bush became president. This in itself was very confusing since nobody really wanted Al Gore to be president either. John was particularly piqued since he voted for Hulk Hogan, go figure. In perhaps one of the most bizarre events, the loose cannon Justin showed up again, with a man named Jed who liked to blow up cars. A light-bulb appeared over Kris' head, several people looked at him oddly. Kris implored Justin to be their permanent Bassist. The loose cannon said, "I don't know, I have my own music career to think about and-" At this point Kris punched him, he's been part of the band ever since. Kris' hand eventually got better, Justin's face did not. All was good, all was magic, One Pedaled Bike was where they needed to be, they wrote good music and connected well with their audience. Citing artistic differences the band broke up in May. No... wait... that's a Ben Folds Five song, I'm sorry, the band is actually better than ever and has just written a new song called 'Dear Reader' which is indicative of their coming success. It's also the name of the message board. The band thought this was all very cute and thanked James for the idea, they then chained him to a chair and forced him to make a website. He did, so they gave him bread and water, he's in the basement now crying. |

Group Members
---Zach, pronounced like 'achoo', is your typical everyday angelic boy next door. Aside from being a heart throb Zach spends his time singing and acting at Montclair University with aspirations of becoming an actor (if this whole rock star thing falls through). With regards to One Pedaled Bike, he's cool, he's alright, he sings and generally plays rhythm guitar, it should also be noted that he is quite the cello player.---Kris-or 'Kris' as you'll hear band members call him from time to time-is One Pedaled Bike's embodiment of beat. He is the pulse of the band, without him OPB would be a harmless cadaver lying on a steel examination table, after all, he is our heart. Away from the stage Kris is a writer and avid video gamer, a guru, most would say. Aside from being a master of the skins-yes... all skins-he also sings and is quite an oddball.---John. A mystery to all except... hmmm... Moving on, there are very few instruments that John picks up that he doesn't know how to play (John = Instrumental Wizard), a few of his talents are guitar, harmonica, tuba and Roxanne (by The Police). Aside from being mysterious, John attends New York University where he is currently studying the history or cement... er... where he is currently studying political science.---Justin is a cowboy, quiet and deep like a river. He is quite proud to be a college drop-out but maintains a vision of returning to school to become something other than dead. If he isn't playing bass for One Pedaled Bike, it is most likely you'll find him in front of his computer writing music. Aside from being a composer he is also sarcastic, cynical and single with a taste for anything technical or electronic. |
