boomkat.com – april 2002 - UK The Clone empire unleashes another label at us, and another dope compilation. Featuring contributions from : Stars as Eyes, Multiplex, Funckarma, Eu and Mr Projectile among countless others, the flavour here is distinctly developed electronica. Tigerbeat 6 frat boys Stars as Eyes mangle the hip hop bounce with a downtempo flicker, all deep beats and soulful subtexts; flawlessly executed. The oddly named "Tendrils of Emptiness" head for the classic IDM textbook, but execute with much charm. DSP factors kept to an edible medium run, complex enough for most appetite’s and melodic enough to play to your nanna at breakfast. Things get seriously interesting with Adam Johnson’s superb "Jernt" : the flow of each melodic strand making for a complex whole, devoured with a crisp and clear underpinning beat that amounts to one of those electronic tracks that reminds you of so much classic IDM, but sounds sparkling fresh with every repeated listen. Lovely. Toytronic’s Mr Projectile and Multiplex follow, the former extending their fast growing cannon of work with another surefire fast-paced winner, while the latter imbue proceeding with a symphonic strand that oozes warmth and soundscape vision. Funckarma have already made an appearance today, their contribution here retaining an undeniably rugged and complex percussive structure, tamed with a look to the future circa Blade Runner and it’s apoccalyptic soundscapes. 16 tracks wide, superb home listening.
