Artist History
G9 was born from 3 distinct bands. Derec Collette from the original line up of Glock 9. A very heavy Rap/Rock band. Scott Thomas and Chris Morrison from Moonshine. A heavy, aggressive, groove oriented band. Vocalists Larry Waters coming from Squash the Fly.A hard rocking alternative band.Derec and Scott new each other from the same gym. Derec and Scott first got together to start work on some material that Derec had written.Through jamming and developing these songs they found out they had a lot in common musically. They decided to take it in a different direction than originally planned. They enlisted the help of Chris on drums to complete the powerful musical line up.The next task was to find a vocalists with power, strength and melody. In walked Larry (aka Larry Manilow). Larry and Scott had been friends for a number of years and had split from their bands almost simultaneously. It was a natural progression for the friends who were once in bands that had performed together before but, never in the same band, to try things out together. Larry walked in, performed one song, and every one said, "Oh yeah, he's the one". |
