    Musical Influences
    Wallace Kumura, Randy Hongo
    Artist History
Raised in Ewa Beach, Hawaii, Aldon has been playing music since the seventh grade. One of his earliest musical influences was Wallace Kumura, band director at Ilima Intermediate in Ewa Beach, who recognized Aldon's interest and potential and encouraged him to explore his musical abilities. Another strong influence on Aldon was Uncle Randy Hongo, whose piano playing and singing were inspirational. After graduating from Campbell High School, Aldon attended Oklahoma Baptist University on a musical composition scholarship. While there he was encouraged by his music theory and piano instructor, Dr. Katherine Timberlake, who believed in his musical abilities and was an inspiration to Aldon - she herself is a very talented musician. Currently a member of the band Ka Ehu Kai, Aldon's professional musical experience ranges from solo performances at coffee houses to performing with Hawaiian bands and halau (dance groups) in the Bay Area community, including Hula Halau O Kanela No'eau, Kaulana Na Pua O Hawai'i, Spirit of Polynesia, and Waikiki Productions. Aldon also teaches ukulele and guitar.

    Albums
Taro Patch Tunes (2000) - "This recording was made on the morning of December 3rd, 1995, between 9:15 and 10:00 AM -- a period of only 45 minutes, at Suspect Studios in San Jose, California. It wasn't my intent to create a commercial album of flawless music through repeated takes and the wonders of overdubbing. My intent, rather, was to capture a live performance of my music with all of the finger flubs, improvising, and creative nuances included. I played all these songs as guitar solos. My guitar is slack key tuned in "Taro Patch tuning", with the strings tuned D-G-D-G-B-D, low to high. Each song is an individual performance. There are no overdubbed parts." ------- The additional tunes were recorded around Thanksgiving 2000.
