Artist History rubber was formed in February 1998 by Chris Hagen and Aron Van Cleave. The two forged one of today’s most cherished original and cover Alternative Rock bands in the Chicago area. Although there have been a few line-up changes rubber has stayed on top. Consistently drawing large crowds, rubber plays a wide mix of Alternative and Mainstream rock heard locally on Q101, 101.9, and 92.7 while sprinkling in rubber’s own blend of tasty original music. Today’s rubber is a sight to behold, having been joined by Troy Brehmer on vocals in June of 1998 and Barry Hoffman on guitar in august of 2000. rubber promises to be the next biggest thing to hit the Chicago Music Scene since the Smashing Pumpkins.In March of 1999 rubber was awarded the title of “Best Alternative Rock Band in Chicago” by a Suburban Nightlife readers poll and from there the sky’s the limit. The band has performed with such big-name local acts as: Local H, The Swinging Lovehammers, and Drop.
