Artist History
the kid brother collective have been playing shows and putting out records for more than five years now, while managing to stay modestly out of the spotlight. starting up in may of 97, the collective held the same lineup for nearly four years as a group of very close friends who genuinely love playing music. their first show, an opening spot for boy sets fire, went off without a hitch, and it stayed that way for quite sometime. a self released ep was put out in 98, and led to a split with new york city's camber, as well as a 3 song single on doom nibller records in 2000. touring throughout the midwest and east coast areas followed to support the releases. in december of 2000, eric allen left the band and nate humfleet moved in to take over on drums, becoming a pivotal point in the history of the band, and strengthening the unit kbc had strived to become.after almost two years of production, the first full length was released by the collective in september of 2001. highway miles, produced by longtime friend and unofficial 5th member of the band john smerek, packs over an hour of music into a dense batch of raging cynicism. both mature and refreshing, the record solidified kbc as a strong force in independent music. touring to support highway miles ran throughout the year and into 2002, helping to form an alliance with long island based record company onedaysavior. with no end in sight, kbc have plans of nothing other than constant touring and recording, leaving all convention behind and living on peanut butter sandwiches and tap water for the love of rock. |
