He currently is on the faculty at Hofstra University and is also the conductor and musical director of the New York Film Orchestra; the East Coast's first full-size studio orchestra dedicated solely to recording film soundtracks. His other film scores have garnished awards at the Sundance Film Festival, the Houston Film Festival, the Sci-Fi Channel, the IFP/NY, the New York Latino Film Festival and the NYU First Run Festival. His first international recognition came with the winning of the coveted Prix Ravel in composition from the Paris Conservatory and many awards soon followed including: three ASCAP Composer Awards, two New Jersey State Council for the Arts Fellowships, the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra Awards to Young Composers, the Joseph H. Bearns Prize from Columbia University, the Gretchanov Memorial Prize in Composition from the Juilliard School and fellowships from the foundations of Henry Mancini, George Gershwin, and Richard Rogers. His recent projects include a Piano Concerto commissioned jointly by the Oakland Symphony and the Cabrillo Music Festival and a ballet for the National Ballet Company of Puerto Rico.
