    Artist History
Formed in the summer of 99, an 8 month process of writing ensued and the result was gratifying to say the least. The hoop-la surrounding their rehearsals slowly grew into what was to become a steadily growing and loyal fanbase. Having drew over 200 people to their first gig, crackjaw quickly began laying the groundwork for a bright music career. Drawing on many influences, as well as their own unique songwriting style, have allowed them to grab the attention of fans from many genres. The recording of Stiff started in early 2001 and continued through winter. Released in July of 2001, Stiff has been well received by fans and critics alike. Ryan Bartek of Real Detroit writes: "In rock's modern-day climate, there are only two sure ways to pull of a dramatic success. You can either do something so radically different that it garners the attention of promoters and fans alike, or you can join the pack that's slowly suffocating itself and attempt to out do them at their own game. crackjaw is one of those bands that has made the choice to walk the latter, successfully making their mark with a disc that stands high above many of their nu-metal contemporaries. crackjaw's sound is aggressive to it's core, showcasing the bands ability to assault the listener with pulsating blasts of sonic fury." Having put in over 100 shows in three states (and counting!), they have no plans of stopping until their goals are met. Many transformations take place in a bands journey. One such example of this would be the addition of a second guitarist which will take place starting in August. Besides the obvious "fattening" up the live sound, many creative doors will now be present for them to explore. Crackjaw will be hitting the studio to demo new material within the next few months. Press Reviews
Review of "Stiff" by MyMusicReview.com: What if Pantera & Full Metal Jacket had an illegitimate Love Child? They would have to name it, Crackjaw. With this 4 man Metro Detroit based "Metal" band you get this sound streaming from your speakers, and grabbing you by the neck! Their release of "Stiff", (Available on CDBaby.com) a 13-track full-length c.d. offers listeners a reason to grab that bottle of Excedrin ®, blast the stereo up to 10, and max. out the E.Q. With a power grove rhythm, you find yourself gritting your teeth and moving your head in succession. I cannot say that this sound is an "Original" concept of style, and the lead fell a little short of mastery, yet I would suggest the addition to your collection. Though we haven't had a chance to see the live version of Crackjaw, we look forward to an in-depth interview with them soon. Find Them At: CDBaby.com - Crackjaw.com We Give This Review a worthy ( 7 ) on the Jam Factor Scaleā„¢ www.MyMusicReview.com ------------------------------------------------ Thetrc.net had this to say: When you first hear the name Crackjaw you may think I miss typed something and meant Glassjaw, well your wrong. I am talking about the one and only Crackjaw. Crackjaw is a four piece band out of the motor city (Detroit) and they have been tearin it up since 2000. Crackjaw recently released there indie record called "Stiff". Meanwhile "Stiff" doesn't hold any completely new sounds, its just a damn good Cd. A couple of things that separate "Stiff" from most other albums are how Crackjaw fills there Cd with intensity and the arrangement is nearly perfect. Once you listen to the album a couple times from start to finish you will notice how Crackjaw's sound varies in each and every song. The only song on the album I don't like very much is called "Crime", I am not really sure why but I just don't like it. My favorite song on the album is called "Loathe" because Ian (vocalist) doesn't scream much in it and his voice has a great sound. Overall "Stiff" is a pretty damn good album and I believe Crackjaw has a future ahead of them, all they have to do is get the labels to hear this. Although I think Ian should do less screaming and allow his voice to be used more. He has a damn good one and it just isn't used as much as I would like. 4/5 Patrick Albright http://www.thetrc.net
