Artist description
Bob is the artist...Bob is the...Bob is the creative genius behind the music of BOB WIG AND THE CASTANETTES. His complex arrangements and harmonies transform these, once the simplest of tunes, into soaring symphonies. Bobs organ work has has had much acclaim. He has been compared to the likes of Booker T (and the MG's) and Peter Fenn (Sale of the Century).PHIL CASTANETTE is the solid back bone of the group. Without his bass to stand on, BOB WIG would not be the band it is today. Phil spent 12 long years studying bass guitar technique in the States. He shared lectures with such bass greats as BOOTSY COLLINS (mad black American bass bloke) and MARK KING (poncy white British bass gadgie) to name but a few. Phil has won several Grammies for his work in film, and is a very well respected members of the Worldwide music communityJON CASTANETTE... is the genius lyricist and drummer of the band. All those well known hits such as "Our Kids Souped-Up Nova", and "Bus Shelter Emptiness", which are considered more as modern day folk tales than just mere pop songs, came from the pen of JON CASTANETTE. |

Artist History
Formed in the late 80's, Bob Wig & the CAstanettes found instant sucess with a high profile tour round the UK and recorded 2 albums within their first year of existence. They proved they had staying power by touring and recording for nearly a decade before their painful split in 1998. Luckily we have these gret recordings to remember them by. There have been talks of a reunion tour, but I guess we'll have to wait and see. |
