Artist description The choral program at York consists of three curricular choruses. In addition, students have the opportunity to participate in the Madrigal Singers and Vocal Jazz Ensemble. Each student performs in a solo reciatal, and chamber ensemble experience is offered to all students.The York Concert Choir is the performing chorus exhibiting the highest level of musical skills. Selected by audition, students in this ensemble perform the most advanced concert repertoire offered. Members pursue a six-point course of study: mixed ensemble choral experience; single gender choral experience; sectional practice and instruction; vocal technique instruction; solo performance; and chamber music performance. Most students (over 70%) study privately, and sectionals are held weekly.The York Concert Choir enjoys a long tradition of excellence and consistent representation in the IMEA All-District and All-State festivals. Additionally, many York students participate in local youth choruses and various summer camps. The York Concert Choir has toured and performed at high school and college campuses throughout the United States and Cananda. The choir has premiered numerous works and performed for many distinguished guest clinicians and conductors throughout the country.
