Recording Artist/Actor History:
TURTLE MAN was Born in West Kingston Anna Town Jamaica He moved to the countryside Good Hope Negril with his Grandmother at the age of nine. It was his Grandmother who introduced him to the livity of Rasta and righteousness. And…thats when he began to rap.
At the age of fifteen TURTLE MAN started to hit the dancehalls clubs and house parties to try to get on the Microphone. His popularity started to grow and he was invited to rap competitions where he battled with other rappers for cash prizes.
At seventeen. TURTLE traveled across Jamaica with sound systems such as Young Gemini Sound TG Sound and the MXIII Sound. Sleeping in the back of a truck or on the speaker box...often disrespected by selectors. He decided to take a break for a couple of years to farm.
A few years later. while sleeping in the woods. he heard footsteps and a voice telling him to go back to the music. From there on his talent for writing music and voicing lyrics has been unstoppable.
Turtle Man Facts:
Recorded his first record Hurry Hurry in 1993
Signed his first contract with Irie Negril Record Label in 1995 which he was affiliated through 1997
First opportunity to tour throughout Europe and Caribbean in 1995
Relocated to the United States Chicago IL. in 1997
Moved back to Jamaica for six months to record in the studios of Kingston in 1999
Released first album Hurry Hurry in 1999
Relocated back to the United States Los Angeles CA) six months later, creating his own record label – God Heart Entertainment
Expanded music efforts getting involved in the movie and music video projects
2002 NB 1 reggae artist on the Australian music charts for 4 consecutive months
Currently at the NB 1 spot on Sound Click world beat music charts
Second album {Prosperity} will be released early 2003
TURTLE MAN has recorded and performed across the globe in the Caribbean Europe and United States. He performed with many GREAT Jamaican artists such as GREGORY ISAACS SURGAR MINOT SAMMY DREAD PHILIP FRASSER JOSIE WHALE CHARLIE CHAPLIN NINJA MAN JUNIOR DEMAS BEENIEMAN MERCILESS TANYA STEPHENS LADY SAW MARCIA GRIFFITHS KING YELLOWMAN BUJU BANTON CAPLETON COCO TEA… nuff artists.
In addition to the world beat scene he has crossed over to perform with American artists such as REDMAN and METHODMAN and recently recorded a song with PK from the RUFF RIDERZ crew.
Since Turtle Man relocated to Los Angeles CA to pursue better opportunities he has also been involved in various movie projects such as SHOW TIME WITH EDDIE MURPHY AND ROBERT DENARO JOHN Q WITH DANZEL WASHINGTON USA TV PROMOTION BENJAMIN WITH ICE CUBE BRINGING THE HOUSE DOWN WITH STEVE MARTIN AND QUEEN LATIFA and many more. Also featured in music videos including BUSTA RHYMES JAY-Z NO DOUBT LUCY PEARL MACK 10 DR. DRE SNOOP DOGG JAH RULE BEENIE MAN AND JANET JACKSON.
Working the music scene encountering both good and wicked business practices. TURTLE MAN wanted to spread a positive image so he created his own record Label GOD HEART ENTERTAINMENT and band The God Heart Band a seven member ensemble.
TURTLE MAN and GOD HEART ENTERTAINMENT represent Jamaican Dancehall Roots Reggae HipHop music R&B and World Beat.
