Artist description
The Red Stripes may not be the greatest musicians in the world. We do, however, write some of the best songs around - the kind of music that you find yourself humming after the first listen and singing full-blast after the second. We like to consider ourselves bastions of the fun loving rock 'n roll spirit. We put on crazy shows, lots of humor - we're basically five best friends who have a great time playing together. |

Artist History
The Red Stripes have been around, in one form or another, since 1994. The beginnings of the bandlay in the meeting between Joe Master and Andrew Romano. Previously enemies of sorts, Joe andAndrew struck up a conversation at a birthday party and found they shared a common love of theBeatles and the Sgt. Pepper album. Soon, the two were inseparable best buddies. Andrew had justbegun playing the guitar, and Joe soon took up the instrument. The two played, quiteincompetently, for hours on end and began to write songs. The first fruit of their efforts, 7:30Bus, was an immature effort. It signaled, however, the course the two would be charting over thenext six years. Soon, Joe and Andrew were introduced to Ryan Nicholoff, a fellow guitarist and buddingsongwriter. The three hit it off immediately and began playing together in Ryan's garage. Theyrecruited Dan Barone to play drums, and the core of The Red Stripes was completed. The four ofthem became not only bandmates, but best friends, and have remained that way to this day. Soon, the embryonic Red Stripes found that they possessed a certain chemistry and desired toshare their music, mostly originals, with the outside world. They played eighth grade graduationparties (disastrously!), and even got a slot at a middle school charity dance. Finding their soundlacked that certain something, the Stripes brought good friend Nate Boyd and upperclassman AdamBrophy into the fray. The completed Red Stripes (then called The Division) played the DARE danceon January 30, 1997. It wasn't much of a success... Since that time, the band has progressed through a number of stages. Previously named TheRainmakers and The Magic Jumbo Band, the band settled on its current title (a reference to bothPaul McCartney and the choice Jamaican beer, yum!) before playing a stunning show at the Blue Barnin 1998. You may have seen The Red Stripes at Vaughan Hall, various church functions, or theprevious three Battle of the Bands. You may have heard various members playing on the beach or atparties. Now, with their musical abilities maturing at an astonishing rate (witness Joe's leadprowess, Ryan's piano skills, and Dan's vocal harmonies), prepare to hear The Red Stripes asyou've never heard them before. |
