Group Members
Singer/Songwriter Jim Papp pilots the rocket ship named Rock Boy. He plays bass, mixes in atmospheric synthesizer tones, and paints his costuming and the band’s mysterious faux-rock stage scenery, inscribed with evocative Mayan symbols. Jim has also composed music for theater and film, shows his artwork in Seattle area art galleries, and – get this – will paint anything to look like rock! Electric guitarist Harris Taylor dials up beautiful and intriguing galactic frequencies, navigating the rocket ship and singing harmonies. He has performed in many fine West Coast groups from San Diego to Seattle, from clubs and festivals to 10,000 seat venues. His exquisite, soaring guitar melodies boost Rock Boy into space, taking him way out on his flight adventure. Orchestral drummer Elizabeth Maes heads up the engineering department, keeping the ship's mighty engines fueled and powered up. Trained in Drum Corps, her rock-steady beats have propelled Pop, Rock and Jazz groups from the Bay Area to Seattle. Elizabeth’s credits include performing in the Sonics Band and the Seafair Parade. She is also an accomplished painter. In-flight tech support is provided by Dave Coate who twists all the necessary knobs and dials to keep the band flying straight and sounding great. A true sound aficionado, Dave has helped Rock Boy with live mixing and studio recording for many years. He also sequences and duplicates the band’s CDs. |
