The band came together just for fun in September 2000. Two rehearsals later we recorded our first CD " Colors of Utopia ". Four of the songs on the CD was made during the weekend we recorded. We will continue our music relation because the ideas just poppin up all the time. We have found eachother perfectly and have the same goals in life, to create music and have fun doing it. So be sure to look out for us because we will be around !!!

Swedish based MOUTH OF CLAY have a passionate love for gritty, blues based, noisy rock that spans much of the the 13 track set. The songs, recorded live after 4 jams, have an earthy, FREE meets stoner rock kinda vibe. Yet the pace slows and haunts us with "Healer", a beautiful, ragged "ballad" in the spirit of Skynyrd's "Freebird." "Erica" follows with a dreamy instrumental, mixing of acoustic Zep and Bad Company. A fiery jolt comes in the form of "The Gods Have Fun" that has one of the best riffs on the album, hammering down like a sonic anvil. "Shine" develops the band's sound even further, taken the sludge of early Humble Pie ("Stone Cold Fever") and Robin Trower style waltz. Vocalist Jocke-Eriksson has a husky, bellowing voice that glides across the jangly fuzz of the au natural guitar sound. "A New Beginning" is another special track. Take an acoustic intro and then allow for a semi-fusion thrust and then back to clean effects laden piece a la Zep's "No Quarter." Very cool.I must say this disc comes as a pleasant surprise. I remember enjoying their 4 track demo back in the fall, but they've richly developed their sound, exploring nooks and crannies beyond the their early work. Fans of Zep, Bad Company and Free will surely enjoy this!
