    Artist History
Music and emotion come together for audiences of Jeznick, the four-piece band who describes their sound as "urban alternative." Playing open-stage, unpaid improvisational music, they acquired an impressive amount of recognition from fans and fellow musicians alike. Their loyal support led to regular appearances in Baltimore and Washington clubs and concert halls such as Fletcher's, The Recher Theatre, Eight By Ten, Paloma's, The Metro Café, and The Rhodeside Grill (VA). Continuing their success in the fall of 1999 through summer 2000 they were privileged to open for National Acts like God Street Wine, Disappear Fear, The Getaway People (Columbia Records), Mary Lou Rourd, and the Push Stars (Capitol Records). For Jeznick’s invited performance at the 9:30 Club, Lilith Fair judges, consisting of IMP promotions staff and Washington Post critics, awarded Jeznick runner-up out of hundreds of bands competing for the opening spot in the Merewether Post Pavilion festival lineup. Following that, Jeznick were again invited to compete, this time in the final round of a Bohager's (Baltimore) ‘battle of the bands’ event. They were also invited to another 'battle of the bands' for B&W and Lucky Strike at the Garage in Washington, D.C (Summer 2000). Jeznick was very pleased to be listed as an Honorable Mention in the 1999 Music Monthly 15th Annual Reader’s Poll under the category "Best Folk Artist." Jeznick has three live songs on a nationally distributed Toyota Echo sampler released January of 2000. In the fall of 2000 Oasis manufacturing and duplication put Jeznick's song "Yourself" on a nationally distributed promotional CD sampler for radio. Jeznick is privileged by several corporate sponsors. Jim Beam Back Room Sessions has been the sponsor of many Jeznick appearances including their Washington D.C. CD release party also sponsored by "On Tap," a local entertainment newsletter. Their sold out Baltimore CD release was due in a large part to a sponsorship by localmusic.com. Generated by an intense grass roots campaign, a growing mailing list, provided radio exposure and promotion, the web site http://www.jeznick.com averaging 600 hundred hits per month, and their speak-for-itself talent, Jeznick has created a substantial buzz in the Baltimore and Washington Markets. With no distribution other than live performances, Jeznick has sold over 500 copies of their self-released - self-produced debut album "Letters To You" since its release July 21, 2000. On October 19, 2000 Jeznick performed live on WNVT Megahertz Television hosted by 99.1 WHFS DJ Allen Scott. After the show aired they received over 3000 hits on their web site.
