Artist History
Forming in the summer of 1997, Doug (bass), Matt (drums), Bruce (vocals), Dan and Justin (guitars), began creating their unique sound. Straying from the typical new Metalcore genre, Gasket blends fast, old school riffs, ass kicking breakdowns, and melodic harmonies to keep their music interesting. Their first demo "Refuse to be Drained", released in the winter of 1998, has circulated 2000+ copies. Their follow-up CD EP "From Within" has sold out of the 1,000 copy pressing. Both were released without a backing label or distribution. Playing roughly 200+ shows from Vermont to Ohio and everywhere in between on the upper East Coast has gained them some ground in the heavy music scene. Since their inception, they have opened for bands such as Hatebreed, Cast Iron Hike, Tree, 25 TA Life, Crisis, Shadows Fall, All Out War, and Sam Black Church. As the local college and syndicated radio stations started spinning their songs, their local fan base began to, and to this present day, continues to grow. In the meantime, Gasket continues to play and promote the upcoming release of their first full-length CD on Fountainhead Records. The band feels this project is their strongest effort to date and refuses to disappoint their fans. |

Press Reviews
SHOW REVIEW:Without Shelter We Die CD Release Party Featuring: NOK, Gasket, Product 62, Only Minutes Left, Pitchafitt, Krank, Silence The Individual, No Regret, Madhadda January 7th 2001-Salem elks Lodge, Salem MA.The guys in Gasket would steal an old lady's walker and kick her down the stairs if they could get away with it. Mean...lots of circle pits, screams, some blood, mass destruction! If you could have one band write the score for your descent to hell, Gasket would be the band to do it. Live they leave not one rock unturned in their objective to get everyone in the building engulfed in a pit. Energy, aggression, and spit is what Gaskets live show consists of. Fucking awesome. Reviewer: Derek [MEGAKUNGFU.COM]PRESS REVIEW:[THE NOISE-ROCK AROUND BOSTON] GASKET-Refuse To Be Drained [6-song CD]Exploding in a cloud of fire and brimstone comes Gasket. Spawned from the bowels of Hell, this five-man team of musical mayhem have brought back a sound of thrash metal sorely missed in the world today. Their first CD since forming in 1997 has brought all the hate and ill feelings in a six-song free-for-all. With ripping guitars and heart pounding drums, singer Bruce Bettis' voice rumbles at just the right note to open up the earth and let loose the demons from whence they came. After listening to all the songs, I noticed that each one seemed to represent humanity in all its feats of misfortune. "Transparent" is about being lied to and hurt to the point of revenge. Backed by its thrash metal music, it quickly grabs you and your attention. "The Problem" seems to be the official "going postal" song and the problem is that no one's dead yet. "One Life" depicts the beginning of life when it is full of adventure, to the end when you feel bogged down in the drudgeries of day-to-day life and you just want to end it all. "Reflection" is all the hate you feel about yourself because you didn't do this or that. "Brainstorms" are not the innocent ideas in your head but rather the build up of hate and anger, using it as a positive force to overcome your enemies. Like a V-10 motor with 1000 horsepower, Gasket is one of those "I've had a really bad day and now I want to kill everyone" bands. In the end you'll "Beg" for the carnage not to end but don't blow a Gasket, just hit the repeat button and dive back in for some more high energy powered by pure hate. As they say in the suburbs, They're "wicked sick, dude!" -Ray Paradis |
