Artist description
Four super swingin,' hunky dudes and a foxey babe that rock like mad all over America and Europe. Vocalist Tony Reflex is a full-on screamin' spazz that annihilates the stage and the audience. Guitarist George Paras combines high-octane punk rock onslaught with Hendrix-inspired musicality. Bassist Bruce Duff plays lead bass, eliminating the need for anything as redundant as rhythm guitar, and drummer Mike Candalot completes the picture with his funky but furious syncopated drumming. The songs are fast, loud, and furious. |

Artist History
Formed in ?91 when three original members of the Adolescents wanted to write new songs and rock the house in the old school way, the Adz have grown to be an important component of the US punk rock scene. Following many mutations and transmigrations, vocalist Tony Reflex is the lone Adolescent left in the lineup, with long-time cohorts Bruce Duff, George Paras and Mike Candalot rounding out the current band.Adz debuted with the confrontational Where Were You?, followed by a tour of Europe and the release of Piper at the Gates of Downey, their first for Amsterdamned Records. That was followed by the punk concept CD, Transmissions from Planet Speedball, which was met with overwhelming press enthusiasm culminating with a Flipside cover and major features in both Bam and Seconds. Much US touring confirmed ADZ?s long-standing popularity with the punk audiences.Odz ?n? Sodz came next, and like the similarly-entitled Who album, it is a collection of singles, compilations tracks, foreign bonus tracks, demos, and live recordings. Among the songs included are a reworking of the band?s theme, ?Adz,? which appeared in the Penelope Spheeris film Decline of Western Civilization Part III, and a rousing version of ?Jackson? which was originally tracked for the Johnny Cash tribute Cash on Demand. This track features BellRays lead singer Lisa alongside Tony in a raging country punk duet. Next up was The Five Fingers of Doctor X, an unusual comp CD that featured an EP?s worth of brand new music from five of the best punk ?n? roll bands. Along with Adz are the Streetwalkin? Cheetahs, Tricky Woo, Gaza Strippers, and the Black Halos. Adz presented five new songs here, produced by the renowned Earle Mankey (Lazy Cowgirls, Dickies, Beach Boys). Currently, the Adz are hard at work on their upcoming full-length, American Steel, which they promise will be their hardest rocking mind ripper yet! |
