Artist History
The Royal Normans began as a recording project in February of 1999. Greg Simmons and Tom Post had previously played together in The Regulars, and Andy Mendoza and Steve Flores were playing with the Dialectrics. With no intention of playing publicly, The Royal Normans began recording sessions in the spring of that year.Time spent in the studio revealed great chemistry between the four members of the band. In the early fall of 1999, the band began playing live, and it was soon apparent that the Royal Normans were destined to be much more than just a recording project. Scrapping all songs but one (“Now”) from previous sessions, The Royal Normans entered the studio again in the summer of 2000 to begin work on their self-titled debut album, expected to be released in January 2001. The band continues to play shows in and around Tempe, AZ, and has developed a loyal fan base. Each member of The Royal Normans lends his talent to other bands as well. Greg Simmons plays with Los Guys; Andy Mendoza and Steve Flores play with 9 Volt, and Tom Post is a member of the Nitpickers, the Trophy Husbands, and Tammy Patrick’s band. The Royal Normans are a busy group of talented musicians who clearly enjoy doing what they do best - writing and performing great music. |
