Artist description
Smother's a 3-piece band, consisting of guitar, drums and vocals. We play music like an alcoholic takes his first drink in the morning. Sheer brutality without a hint fluff. |

Artist History
We started in October of 1999 by Tom Johnson and Jennifer Page. We added Rick on drums to give the band a different direction to move the songs towards. Rick moved back to Buffalo and we then recruited Robert to sing. Smother received a good response from Tampa, which is good considering the history of that city! |

Press Reviews
(9-track CD, recorded live at the Brass Mug, Jenny Page (guitar), Robert LaRocca (vocals), Tom Johnson (drums), 20:13) This devilish sludge is obviously from honors candidates at the Doom 'n' Destruction Academy. But this live demo reveals a few other venomouns virtues. With a severely stripped-down sound (a trio of gruesome vocals, thrashing guitar, and bottom-heavy percussion), the declaration of brutality within these tunes is laser direct. Likewise, the slim sonics have a hardcore feel that the black metal minions might (someday) figure to their advantage. Like a cross between St. Vitus and Incantation, with some Eyehategod for thrills. (contact:(727)546-8930) |
