Artist History
Mahatma Candy has been an entity since March of 2000. It started as a set of informal jam sessions with Dave and Dade and some of their friends. When it became apparent that "the two Dees" had similar musical tastes and a common love of the acoustic guitar, the idea was formed. While playing at an open mike session in SE Portland, they met Lori, who expressed an interest in joining in the effort. Next came Daniel, an old, dear friend of Dade's, who learned percussion expressly to join the group. Within 3 weeks, Mahatma Candy was born and began playing gigs around SE Portland. Their milestone performances include being the feature acts at the Snake and Weasel public house, Conan's Irish pub, and the Mt. Tabor pub. The band has also participated in fund-raising events and elementary school assemblies as part of the effort to promote music to underprivledged children in the Portland area (working with ETHOS (http://ethos-inc.com/contact.htm). Currently, the band is preparing for a tour of Ireland and Wales (Dan's old stomping grounds). Look for a studio project sometime in 2001, and, of course, the band will be playing in the Portland area on a regular basis. |

Press Reviews
Listen to Lori's amazing voice work with the superb guitar work.. Can be a little imperfect in places but such is live recording.. Nothing can disguise their raw talent though.. - Nature's Child |
