Artist History
DIMILO began when guitarist Michael Wilkins and singer/songwriter
Leo DiMilo were introduced in the summer of '99.
"When we first met, it was kind of awkward," states Leo. "We were
coming from two completely different musical backgrounds that, under
most circumstances, wouldn't complement each other."
"When I first heard Leo's songs I hated them," admits Michael.
"His musical direction and influences were the direct opposite of mine.
On the other hand, I knew there was something there that had promise."
In an unlikely musical marriage, the two decided to form an
alliance that would later become DIMILO.
The two enlisted the help of Steve Brink,a.k.a. Binky as the band
affectionately calls him, as DIMILO's color guy.
"Between Michael and Steve, I would say the two perfectly
intertwine with each other on guitar. It's not too often you can put two
guitarists together and get such a good balance of space and depth."
says Leo. "It's like they were born to play together."
Drummer Steve McClenaghan was added one year after the band was
formed. "McClenaghan brings a groove element to these songs that before
him, didn't exist." states Leo. "Without him, we'd be a completely
different band."
Mixing the hook sensibilities of alternative rock/pop with the
accessibility of classic rock, DIMILO delivers a one-two punch of smart
and catchy songwriting with an energetic live show not easily forgotten.t |
