Artist History
American Filth came together from the ashes of other bands. When Wolf (Bass) and Ed (guitars) hooked up with Larry (Drums), the beginning of American Filth was born. Still needing a frontman, Ed called Ben (vocals) from an ad Ben had placed in the paper. American Filth has since been putting forth a force and energy that is both gripping, yet driven to extremes. |

Press Reviews
American Filth Grindcore for the faithless.Their songs are bass driven and the guitar draws attention to itself only during mid-song solos and then recedes. The rough-hewn vocals in songs like "You Need to Fight the Power" could easily work as refrains for inner-city raps. Instead they overlay laid-back rhythms with metal. All this creates the perfect backdrop, against which the lead singer's melodies shine. The band members of American Filth describe its aesthetic as refusing to "stand down to the under beliefs of the thought system that has been instilled upon us." And if you can understand that, chances are good you'll understand the lyrics too. -- Dylan Roberts/Digital City |
