Artist History Mark and Dean formed in 1996 in San Francisco, CA. Almost immediately after they met, the two began a musical collaboration. Dean had been writing about his thoughts on AIDS, hate crimes and same-sex relationships. Mark began to compose music to fit, and a duo was born. Dean states, "We didn't set out to be recording artists. We wrote songs about what we saw and felt, and people wanted to know if we had records." Making their debut at San Francisco Gay Pride in 1997, Mark and Dean quickly established themselves as a live act for rallies and festivals throughout the East and West U.S. With the release of their debut CD, "Walking Into Freedom" in 1999, the duo hit the road, drawing attention to their live act, their music, and their mission. With the release of Man of My Dreams in 2000, the duo has established national distribution and is receiving critical acclaim.
