Press Reviews
ARTIST: DREAMEND
SONG: MURMUR
GENRE: ALTERNATIVE / OUTSTANDING SHOEGAZING
SIMILAR: BLOODY VALENTINE
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Some bands are content to make walls of sound. Dreamend go further. Not only do they create beautiful Babylonian walls but they also erect epic ceilings, floors, the foundations -- in fact everything on the whole horizon.
Dreamend have the taken the genre of shoegazing and added something to it that most bands don’t always have ... a fantastic song. "Murmur: is like a waking dream; the guitars shift and explode creating an otherworldly experience. And the vocals ... oh my god! This is as impassioned a vocal performance as I’ve heard in a long time. When it descends, the vocal melody is totally captivating. I feel as if I’m stuck somewhere in-between a dream and a hallucination ... like Alice in Wonderland -- confused but excited at the same time.
Dreamend totally understand dynamics. The final eruption of sounds at the end is nothing short of magnificent, with the singer pleading like he’s seen some aliens abduct his little sister. "Murmur" has as many good ideas in it as most bands have in their whole careers.
You remember that movie poster that said "One word review of The Sixth Sense – Wow"? Well that review applies here: incredible music heightened by Dreamend’s tsunami style sounds.
