Artist description
Building off the introduction of the AbacusTM Synthesizer by the Emanuele Brothers in late 1999, Jake Jacobs, aka Computerman, creates hypnotic compositionsincorporating synthetic "virtual guitars" capable of fooling many a serious axeslinger. All is done via his PC, and he uses no conventional acoustic instruments, other than an often highly effected vocal here or there. If Beethoven lived in the 21st century, he would be Computerman. Jake is the modern composer; he simply replaces Ludwig's paper and orchestra with software samplers and sequencers run through a desktop computer. Why should a man's hands and/or lack of access to musical instruments or players prevent the public from hearing the ideas in his head? Computerman makes it his mission to dispel the prevalent idea that electronic musicians are not "real" musicians. |
