Artist History
Bruce Klepper studied music composition and theory in his college years and has a degree in Music Theory. Klepper’s music is highly original and eclectic, blending musical influences as diverse as the Ars Nova to 20th century music composition. Klepper has strived to create music that is melodic and tonal but yet extends beyond tradition tonal systems such as the major-minor system, the modes, atonality and the 12-tone music system. Each music piece explores a unique tonal system that has been developed for the piece. The music makes extensive use of counterpoint to develop the musical ideas. The highly contrapuntal nature of the music in conjunction with the unique tonal systems creates a radically different type of music that is powerful and highly expressive. Similar to a plant, each music piece develops organically and evolves as the piece progresses. The music pieces written in the 1970’s and early 1980’s were written to be performed and recorded on multi track tape recorders which consequently caused their compositions to be more restricted. The music pieces written in the late 1980’s and I990’s were written to be performed on music synthesizers allowing for greater freedom of music composition. In 1999 Klepper released the web site Art E*ccentric (arteccentric.com) which includes his music, sculpture and anthropomorphic images. The thumbnails representing each music piece are from Klepper’s collection of anthropomorphic images. (Anthropomorphic adj. attributing human form or personality to a god or animal or object. - Oxford American Dictionary.) |

Press Reviews
From NOW.com producer Aaron Paul: “Anthropomorphic artist Bruce Klepper wears his heart on his sleeve in revealing his work to the world. Fearing a mainstream audience would not appreciate his unconventional work, artist Bruce Klepper has steered clear of pubic exhibition… until now.” |
