Artist History BIONICA was officially formed as an alternative pop-rock band in Los Angeles, California in January of 1997. Essentially a songwriting duo backed by a strong rhythm section, BIONICA is CINZIA MONIACI and RICO QUEVEDO CINZIA, lead singer and front person of the band, is native to Northern Italy and came to L.A. soon before the project started. She writes and sings her songs in four different languages and has a very powerful voice and captivating persona. Cinzia has traveled extensively around the world since the age of ten, she has majored in Modern Literature and Communications at the Universty of Torino Italy and studied Art History at the Universitee' Sorbonne de Paris. RICO is filipino-american, he plays many different instruments and especially excels in his guitar skills as he learnt how to play from his classmate Dave Navarro in high school. Rico and Dave along with drummer Stephen Perkins had a band back then called "Dizastre". After high school Rico went to U.C.L.A. and majored in Psychology while Dave and Stephen joined Perry Farrell in Jane's Addiction.Over the past two years, BIONICA has performed in the most popular clubs in the L.A. scene from the OPIUM DEN to the VIPER ROOM. In Paris they performed at the popular rock club, LE CHESTERFIELD CAFE'. They have also played in Rome, Milan, Rimini, Bologna and Torino, Italy.They currently have a catalog of over 50 solid songs (that all exist in four different languages).One of their singles, "Fallin from the sky", recorded at Paramount Studios in Hollywood, CA, was written and produced by Cinzia and Rico with the collaboration of John Avila, bass player and co-producer of OINGO BOINGO for over 11 years.After receiving a few different management and recording contract proposals in Italy, France, Belgium, Holland and Germany, the band was invited to Italy with Ravi Jakothia, Indian drummer and Sanjay Ajaya, African-American bass player to shoot the video of the single. Together they formed a visually exquisite combination of ethnicity's that well matches their international appeal and the world oriented variety of their songs.BIONICA was also proud to be presented at the end of January at the European Music Festival MIDEM, taking place every year in Cannes, France.BIONICA has recorded with multi-platinum producer Ross Robinson (Korn, Limp Bizkit) at Indigo Ranch Studios in Malibu, CA creating a great blend of high energy-in your face alternative rock with a pop flavor. This powerful combination has created a new sound for the millenium.BIONICA has also just finished recording at 4TH STREET RECORDING in Santa Monica where they worked on their latest demo with the multi-talented producerJIM WIRT, (Incubus, Fiona Apple).BIONICA is now deciding which Major Record label both nationally and internationally they can team up with to debut BIONICA in the world of music!!!
