    Artist History
While in Boston (1991), Alex answered an ad that Anthony Valli had taped to a lamppost on Hemingway Street that read, 'guitarist/songwriter looking for singer/songwriter to form original rock band.' Influences: R.E.M., Jane's Addiction...' The two met shortly thereafter at Alex's basement apartment on Peterborough Street. "The first night we met," recalls Alex "we started working on songs together and things just happened." Ten to Six is what happened. Over time, Anthony has really put it all in perspective. "Anyone who has ever thought about placing an ad to start a band knows how hard it can be. It's like a hurdle you have to get over with your confidence. The greatest thing that came out of Ten to Six is that we got enough confidence to carry us through all these years of paying our dues. We pulled off some impressive shit on our own. It makes me think, what if I didn't put the ad up? Everything I did in the past adds up to where I am now." Anthony 'Trouble' Valli plays guitar for Crazy Town, who signed a deal with Columbia in 1999. The original Ten to Six lineup included Andy Harris on drums and Greg Stenwick on the bass. "Back then we were playing shows sometimes 3-4 times a week.... we played everywhere and I remember loving every minute of it." Working with manager Melissa Baran, Ten To Six performed over 100 shows in the greater Northeast and took first place at a battle of the bands at The Underground in Lowell, MA. As singer and co-writer of the band's material, Alex abandoned playing the electric bass for the thrill of performing on stage. "I just wanted to put everything into the shows, physically and emotionally, to do that I couldn't be the bassist in the group." In late 1993, after bassist Greg Stenwick decided to call it quits and moved on to pursue his solo work, Ten to Six recruited Alex's longtime friend, bassist Charlie Phillips. "We had Charlie on-stage only a week or so after he rolled into town, and with the momentum was had, it was a perfect fit." recalls Alex. Not missing a gig, 1994 started out with a 4-song produced at Sqiud Hell Studios - by Eric Sky. The next six months were the glory days for the quartet, gigs were plenty and life was good. Another six song produced by Brad McCarthy in the infamous Studio'A' kept the band focused on the future with a distant hopes of capitalizing on connections at Arista records, but evetually found the band in San Francisco, where they recorded their debut album (32 Desmond Street, released in 1995) and eventually came undone.
