Artist History
Rivals is a heavy, emotionally-driven rock band from the San Francisco Bay Area town of Gilroy. Our music takes influences from rock, metal, hardcore, progressive/post rock, and punk sensibility.
The heart of every Rivals song is in the personal lyrics and message, which we draw from social and personal issues and back up with an energetic stage show. In other words, we really believe in what we play, and only write music that we can relate to.
Rivals' current release is entitled "Awakening" (released at a successful home show with 300 in attendance on October 26th 2002) Tracks off of "Awakening" have also received regular play on 92 KSJO, 104.3 KMBY and 90.5 KSJS. Awakening is the follow up to 2001's successful demo, "a demonstration", which sold over 1,200 copies in the Bay Area alone.
Rivals have recently had their music featured in the Norcal Underground Metal Compilation CD, put out by Zero Magazine, Powerslave.com, and MGD, and a BTB Riders' stunt Street Bike DVD called "Pimpin' Six Huns".
