    Artist description
Puddle reshaped the kind of punk music that began with The Ramones and was expanded by Husker Du, into their own brand of high volume guitar, pulverizing drums, melodic bass playing and straight from life songwriting that they refer to as melodic therapy. Puddle used the freedom of the punk sensibility to artfully sculpt guitar noise with the honesty of folk musicians. They poured the frustrations, stresses and disappointments that we all can relate to, into insightful, intelligent lyrics that can only be joined with music that is loud and straight to the point.

    Artist History
Puddle was formed in Oct 1991 when Dave Parent decided to play guitar rather than drums in the band he wanted to start. He had been writing songs all through his time in college. The first member to join was bassist Jon Plet in December 1991 and was completed by Tom Woundy on drums in July 1992. A change in bass duties was made when Jon Plet left in February 1993, and Greg Olson was welcomed aboard in April 1993. Two albums later, Greg left and was replaced by Scott Lee in January 1996. Scott left the band in April 1997, just short of recording what will be the third Puddle album. Shortly after, Jim Quenneville came onboard and brought a wealth of musicianship to the band. Jim left the band after the release of the final Puddle album. Greg Olson then rejoined the band in July 1999 to play the final Puddle show in November 1999. Puddle's momentum was built with their live shows, appearing with such bands as LOTION, COBALT 60, TWISTED ROOTS, THE DIRT MERCHANTS, and THE CURTAIN SOCIETY. They also broke out of Worcester, Puddle played shows in Boston at the now closed world famous RAT, TT The Bears, The Middle East and Lupo’s in Providence, RI. Puddle managed to be billed as an opening act for THE MEAT PUPPETS October 1994 appearance in Worcester. Unfortunately, Polygram’s contract resulted in Puddle being removed from the bill just a week prior to the show. Puddle appeals to those who are into music of aggression as well as those who demand a good song. Unlike angry punk and hardcore, Puddle were average, uptight individuals who offered a bombastic spectacle of feedback and distortion. In December of 1993, the song "Height of the Sky" came in at number 8 on the 1993 top 20 local songs in THE NOISE magazine. In 1994 Puddle was cited as one of the top nine bands in Worcester, by the Worcester Phoenix. In 1995 the album, Dricket, was named best local release by critic Joe Longone of The Worcester Phoenix and best local tape release in THE NOISE readership poll. In January of 1997, The single I Won't Let it Get Me Down was named best local song of 1996 by Joe Longone as well. In 1998, The Worcester Phoenix columnist, John O'Neil picked Puddle's Loner CD as the 1997 3rd best local release of the year. Puddle was also nominated for Best Alternative Act in Worcester in 1997 and Best Punk/Ska band 1999 by Worcester Phoenix Readers. also in Jon O'Neil's Phoenix list of best 50 local bands of the 90"s, Puddle came in at a respectable #34.
