Artist description
Harmonies galore, big guitars and synthesizer squiggles from Jupiter. Rock with a pop sensibility and pop that rocks. Lyrics about dandelions and stars and annoying habits. Snazzy wardrobes. The Monolith has everything you've been wanting from a band in this neo-Neolithic age ... Except for maybe onstage levitation. That would be cool. They're probably working on it. The Monolith arrived on the planet in a place called San Francisco just as 2000 turned into 2001 --spreading panic among the prehumans and astronauts --after Bill Rousseau (formerly of Dixie Star) decided to put together the superpop combo of his dreams. Within a few months, he had recruited heavy rockers Russ Violet (ex-Protein) on bass and Kevin Byers (ex-Capsule) on drums and brought in the deeply-voiced melodic genius Dahlia Gallin on vocals and guitar and the deeply strange keyboard mastermind Rogge on outer-space synthesizer and electric piano. They christened themselves the Monolith -- and new hope dawned for humanity. Still no onstage levitation, but hope's cool. We'll take hope. Yay! Hope! With a fantastic self-recorded and self-released CD and just a handful of shows under their collectivebelt, the Monolithic ones are already building a strong following in a city where rock-n-roll bands aren't supposed to build strong followings anymore. So there. Check out the Monolith and get ready for your next great leap in evolution. You just may find the formula for audience levitation. That would be cool. -Will Crain |
