Artist description The Illa de Mallorca chamber orchestra is a young ensemble of professional musicians from Mallorca, Spain, and all over Europe. They are led by violinist Barry Sargent.

Artist History Since their debut concert in the Palma Auditorium in February of 1999, which can be heard on this website, the Illa de Mallorca orchestra has performed in the Balearic Islands and Germany.

Group Members Music Director and Concertmaster Barry Sargent studied at Oberlin Conservatory and continued his studies in Paris with Gerard Poulet. An baroque specialist, he has been concertmaster of Les Arts Florissant, Les Talents Liriques and Seminario Musicale. He is currently concertmaster of the Baroque group Al Ayre Espaņol, and is invited concertmaster of the Orchestra of the Grand Theater of Liceu in Barcelona, the Granada City Orchestra, and is conductor of the Baroque Orchestra of Sevilla.
