    Artist description
Henry.Sam.Ocean is comprised of Daniel Taylor (Path Of Allyson, Dimmerswitch), and Scott Lewis (Film, the Clandestines). The band was formed in October 2000. "People say we sound like the Pixies," quotes guitarist/singer Scott Lewis of Henry.Sam.Ocean. "Actually, they say we're reminiscent of them, which either way, is high praise. I don't know if that's true or not, but there is an element of our music that I think is fueled by the same aesthetic that drove them to such great heights." Self described as a mixture of emo, darkwave, and americana, Henry.Sam.Ocean does possess a kinetic energy that might drive a listener to make such claims, although there are other elements in the mix also. Some of these elements might lead a listener to think of a darker version of the Church, or the Jesus and Mary Chain. Almost out of necessity, three-piece bands keep the music sparse and muscular. Scott elaborates: "In a three-piece, you've got to keep things moving, and strive at every opportunity to do what you can to keep the music sounding full. Originally, we thought we had to have a fourth member, but after our first couple of shows, the response was so positive to what we were accomplishing as a three piece, we found ourselves enjoying working within the parameters of a trio."
