Artist History
The Electric Crayon Set is a psychedelic
brainchild of the finnish musicmaker,
guitarist and singer, Timo Paakko.
The band first got together as
"Jennie Tropik Dream" and recorded only a
demo of two songs at the start of 1999.
The next incarnation, which is also the
current line-up recorded the bands debut 45:
"The Hardest Thing/Demons In Disquise".
Originally intended as a demo only, the songs
caught the ear of the directors at the megatrendy
mod label, Detour Records, and in April 2000
it got released as a limited edition of 300
copies (DINT004). The single was well-received
all around the globe and was quickly sold out.
The band started working on the forthcoming
"One Manīs Trash..." album in January 2000, the
recordings spanning the whole year 2000. It is a
concept album, all songs loosely fit on a
storyline and the actual tracks tied with
sound-effects.
No music style is unfamiliar to this
bunch: you will find fine examples of
Soul, R&B, Acid-Folk and Paisley-Pop among others
on this fan-tas-tic record! Power Guitar chords
in the vein of the Creation and the Who,
layered with Hammond B-3 and gorgeous melodies,
not forgetting one of the tightest rhythm units
in todayīs music.
The record itself actually is a
finnishamerican collaboration.Kim Hitchcock
from Austin, Texas is responsible of many of the
lyrics on the album, including the superb title
track, and the beautiful cover painting is a
lovejob of Mad John Nemec from New York City.
The initial pressing will be 500 copies,
CD only.It will also be the inauguration
of a new label, SoundHawk.
