Artist description
As though the Earth herself were singing, Dena Risha's voice cries out, like an echo from our past, with a haunting intensity that arrives only once in a generation. And it is with this most rare and yet 24 year old voice that Dena intricately weaves a liquid-velvet tapestry of lyrics, melodies, and moods... which communicate a knowing and insight belying her youth. But more than just her unforgivably powerful vocals and an empathic songwriting prowess that grabs you by the heart and soul... refusing to let go... Dena emanates an aural magic, quite simply, like no one has ever known. |

Artist History
Dena began exploring her vocal gifts and performing at the age of 7. After years of study and attaining a Bachelor of Arts degree, she moved to New York where she performed in and did the cast recording for the Off-Broadway show "Children of Eden" (MCA). Later, after returning to her home in California, Dena became the lead vocalist in the LA-based band Sketches of Ellis, with whom she released an original CD, produced by Sally Browder (Dwight Yoakam, The Muffs), and featuring guitarist Randy Jacobs (Iggy Pop, Elton John, Was Not Was). With her musical passion still evolving, she has begun creating her own captivating, original music and is currently in the midst of recording her debut album "In the Light of Day". |
