Artist description
Mellow guitar and a rich voice make Barry Hertz
a sought-after folk artist on public radio.
When he isn' singing, Barry Hertz teaches
high school biology in Calgary, Alberta, Canada where he immigrated from South Dakota in the early 80's in response to a fascination he has felt since childhood for the Canadian wilderness. While teaching or doing other work (Barry has also been a beekeeper in northern Alberta and anenvironmental supervisor in Wyoming), he always has his guitar close at hand. Whether playing in one of the many groups he has been part of over the yearsor humming and strumming alone on the back steps, music has been and is his "sure cure for the common cold." |

Press Reviews
Sure Cure ... is one of the best recordings I've heard since I've been producing HOUSEBLEND – and for that matter in the 20+ years I've lived here and been involved in music production.
Bob Swinson - South Dakota Public Radio
“…the whole CD has an aura of folk music surrounded by fantastic guitar accompaniments… a smooth voice that has unbelievable carriage and flow beckons a person to drift away in the music…
One particular track entitled "Buffalo" is a stunning ode to the creature and the tragedy of its loss. It is no wonder that he has been asked to participate on an international environmental CD. In addition to melodies of the outdoors the collection also branches out to songs about the needs of children, past relationships, love lost, and the "neighborhood watering hole"…"
