Artist description
Born near Stuttgart in Germany Andreas Boelcke showed interest in piano music from the earliest days of his childhood. At age eight he performed the first time in a public recital. Since then he has performed in many recitals in Germany and the U.S. He won prizes such as the first prize at the German Young artist's competition "Jugend musiziert" in 1995, third prize in the 1999 Missouri Music Teacher's Association, Honorable Mention in the 2000 National Hellam Young Artist's Competition in Springfield and the $10,000.-Schoolarship at MWSC. He is active as both a soloist and accompanist. In addition to that he has worked as a piano teacher in public music schools and music stores in Germany. In 1999 he came to the U.S., where he studies piano with Ellen Bottorff at Missouri Western State College and with Dr. Robert Weirich at the University of Missouri in Kansas City. He took master-classes with Blanca Uribe, Andre Marchand, Rita Sloan and Ann Schein. Besides being presented at MWSC as a classical piano recitalist, he has appeared in Theodor-Heuss Gymnasium Aalen, the Musikhochschule Stuttgart, and the Musikhochschule Hannover in Germany in the same capacity. While his repertoire includes music from the Baroque period to 20th-Century music, he is especially interested in Russian piano literature. |
