Artist History Utah Girl Biography 2001Who: Jason Cole- acoustic guitar, Amy MacClain- vocals, Reno Diamond- drums, Sylvia D’amour- backing Vocals, and Jon Dough- Bass.What: Powerful and passionate original acoustic rock- dynamic and diverse. Starting as an acoustic duet, Utah Girl soon grew to include a talented rhythm section and female backing vocalist. They now have the ability to perform in almost any style or size of venue as a duet, trio, or with the full sound of the entire band.When: Utah Girl were formed in February of 2000 by guitarist Jason Cole and vocalist Amy MacClain and quickly proved themselves as a talented songwriting duo in the local San Francisco acoustic scene. The bay area natives immediately began frequenting the numerous open mic nights the city had to offer. With each performance their popularity grew, as did their repertoire of delicate but intense original songs.Where: Hailing from Oakland California, Utah Girl draws on many different musical styles to influence their sound. The music runs the gamete from dark, moody, and contemplative to catchy, radio-friendly, folk/pop. All the while MacClain sings her deeply personal, heartfelt lyrics concerning her real life experiences- revealing feelings of loneliness, desperation, and lost hope.
