Press Reviews
Local artist tops sales charts By Naomi Haley Staff Writer With his three previous albums topping sales in the local artist section at music stores in Bloomington and West Lafayette, Rich Hardesty's new album "Hard Boilered Alive at Purdue" is sure to join its predecessors. According to Mark Zamierowski, manager of Von's Shops, Hardesty's first CD "Jones'n" was one of the best selling local artist CDs that Von's has ever carried. In terms of sales longevity, it rivaled mass market CDs in 1996 by Live and The Dave Matthews Band as one of Von's consistent month-to-month sellers. Hardesty's second album, "Corondo," and third album, "Jamaica Getaway," were just as successful. According to Linda M. Prall, owner and operator of Kilroy's Sports Bar in Bloomington, a weekly analysis of the juke box has let her know that Hardesty's song "Never Wanna F'n See You Again" has been the most popular selection since 1994, when it was first put on. "In July, it was finally beaten as the number one selected song," she said, "by one of Rich's other songs, 'The Chicken Song.'" There are 20 selections on Hardesty's new CD, both "Never Wanna F'n See You Again" and "The Chicken Song," as well as other songs from his previous albums. Tracks 11 through 20 were recorded live at Ta Toms and are complete with comments such as, "Social!" from Hardesty and the audience. Also included in his selection is a cover song, slightly modified, of "If You're Happy and You Know it Clap Your Hands." December 11, 1998 |
