    Artist History
Bio: Andy Sybilrud has been producing music for 6 years. I was in a little punk band when I was 16. I played lead guitar, organ and piano and wrote most of the music. We ended up recording a cheap record. That’s when I started my interest in recording. It started as a College project when attending Music Tech College of Recording in Minneapolis, MN. I was listening to alot of Electronica at the time and was very intrigued by the whole thing. I started experimenting with synthesizers in my MIDI class and writing tracks with Protools. For my first school project I wrote a R&B piece with my cousin singing vocals. I brought it home and it turned into a dance remix that soared on my Mp3.com site I had at the time. From then I started doing my own tracks and came up with the Return to Mono name. (which means back to one: one person) I wrote lots of tracks that year, though they weren't that good yet. I still was getting used to the whole digital audio / sequencer thing. I bought my second synthesizer (Roland JP8000) to go along with my old Alesis QS6 that I have had since my punk rock days, I also bought a cheap ER-1 drum machine and a nice condenser mic.. I recorded all this going into a Tascam 4-track and outputed onto Digital Performer 2.7. Sadly, I still use the same mixer today. With all this new equipment and a functional digital studio, I started bringing singers in that I knew to sing on some of my tracks. The songs seemed to just stream out. I would spend till 6 in the morning in my basement working and mixing the songs. The song “Keep it Alive” got the attention of WCCO news (Minnepolis TV) which gave me Artist of the Month, the first electronic musician to get the honor. The City Pages also named me artist of the year in the “Electronica” catagory. I recently moved to San Francisco in search of greater success.
