Artist History
Political Pushover is a Punk Rock band from Lehi, Utah. We aslo blend ska, emo,
and hardcore. Our influences are Rancid, Strung Out, The Pinkerton Thugs,
AFI, Plan A Project, Choking Victim, One Man Army, American Steel &
alot more. It was started by Brandon Rocque and Cody Clark(shorty)in
the summer of 1998, We recruited Rob Jolley to play Guitar, and our friend
to play 2nd guitar. They found us a drummer, and a bassist. As a six piece,
we played two shows and then we broke up in february of 1999. Then in March, Brandon, Shorty,
and Rob started it back up again, and recruited Greg, to be our Bassist.
We worked on new songs and started looking for a new drummer. We had several
people play drums for us off and on, but
none of them seemed to work out. With our drummer Chris we played a show
at an old theater in a Spanish Fork. We had quite an enterage of quests
there our close friends, the other bands, and four or five hicks. Awesome!
In september of 1999 we recruited our fourth drummer, Ben, who has proved
to be very talented and we started playing shows again. In The summer
of 2000 Cody(shorty) left the band. The reason he left remains unsaid,
but we are all still friends and you might see him at some shows down
the road. We played
shows all over Utah and played with bands like: Spare Change, Backline,
Life Over Law, Roth Child(rip), Broken Standard(rip), and many more. Everyone
except Brandon played in other bands as well. Greg played in a band called
The Stand Still, with our former drummer Chris. and Rob and Ben played
in a street punk band called The Deceived with our friend Ryan. We finished
recording our first full length album entitled "Death, Destruction,
and Decay," it was released on Aug. 25th. We had a few Mp3's from
that album available so check them out on the MP3's page.In October
2001, our Bass player and friend, Greg, left the band. His last show with
us was at Club Omni (not our favourite place,) but it was one of the best
we've ever played (in my opinion, anyways) He'll be greatly missed. He
has been with us since January 1999. He left the band to pursue other
things, mainly his other band The Stand Still (which he was in before
he joined our band)and of course School and other things. Shortly after
he left, we gained a new member, Colby. He plays guitar for us and is
a great addition to our band.We auditioned
new bass players for a month (Nov. 2001) after Greg left before we finally
settled on one that we liked, his name is Peter, and he played bass for
Backline. He's a very cool kid, he's energetic and crazy, and although
we never played a show with him, we did put him on our website and on
our t-shirts. But after a handful of practices he left the band to concentrate
more on his band, Backline, and his personal life. He'll always be remembered,
and the t-shirt was discontinued after we sold the remainder of them.
Then we worked with a new bassist Nick Shurtz for a couple of months but
it really never worked out. Our last
line-up change was made in October, 2002, with Jason Grainger, as our
new bassist. We went on tour with him in October, and into the studio
to record the Punk Rock Eternal EP in November. Thats about it for now. |
